Panama - Dec. 1 - Dec 31, 2006

My bags at GRU airport all ready to go back to Panama. Barely any pictures got taken during my 1 month stay in Panama, and the few that were taken weren't digital. Pretty much just hung out at my place the whole month.

Hotel in Guarulhos - Nov. 30/Dec. 1, 2006

I decided to go to the The Guaru Plaza Hotel and sleep for a while during my 10 hour layover in São Paulo. The hotel featured a bed with integrated A/C and light controls console.

A can of Guarana sitting on the turntable through which my mixto sandwich was delivered by room service.

Oct 24, 2006 - Back in Guarulhos

Another night shot from São Paulo´s GRU airport during a smoke break. I´m not sure what sport they were in town to play but they're the Cuban team.

Oct 23, 2006 - Laundry run

We went to Ciça's grandmother's house to do some pre-trip laundry. I found this amusing skull on her stairwell. Tomorrow we leave for São Paulo en route to Buenos Aires and beyond.

October 22, 2006 - Futbol Brasieliro!

Lago Norte folk playing football in a court near Ciça´s place. Since this is a relatively preppy area, these kids aren't likely to make it to the national team.

Oct. 21, 2006 - Shopping in Brasil

Brasil, home of Havaianas flip-flops has the widest range of colors I´ve ever seen. (You can buy these at Urban Outfitters, but only like three colors per season)

I don´t know if they have "La Lechera" condensed milk in the US. They have it in Colombia and Panama but not with the nifty curvy can or the tube as far as I know. She seems to have an somewhat of an empire here in Brasil, there´s candy bars and evaporated milk as well as the traditional condensed milk that I´ve always known and loved.

International icon Tony the Tiger... Isn´t he Grrrrrreat?

Oct. 20, 2006 - no pics this day

This is Cecilia with her Pentax in front of one of them Niemayer buildings I wrote about below.

Oct. 19, 2006 - Out Shooting

A typical Brasilia apartmet building, which like the rest of the city was designed by Oscar Niemayer. Cecilia's Grandfather explained me that the buildings are designed without a ground floor in order to appear lighter and to allow a view through them from from street level. That way you don't feel like you're in a maze which is the case in most cities. The buildings are also no higher than six stories so you can always see the sky.

Oct. 18, 2006 - Borf lives?

Went to the supermarket wih Ciça. On the way back home I saw this graffitti. I thought Borf was busted, but maybe he ran off to Brasil and slightly altered his name (notice this says Borfs). Either that or some dumb Brazilian kid can't spell.

Oct. 15, 2006 - Room with a view

This is the view from my room in Brasilia, which is actually Cecilia's parents' room.

Oct. 14, 2006 - 26

I arrived in Brasilia sometime around noon. The local street signage welcomed me.

At night Ciça took me to dinner at a trendy local restaurant, unfortunately, I am more of a fast food man. Got a cool pic.

Oct. 13, 2006 - Finally Flying

After a week in stand by waiting for my trip to actually start I am finally off to Brasilia via São Paulo.
1. Panama to São Paulo flight... packed
2. São Paulo's GRU Airport at night... smoke break!
3. GRU during the day. The guy in the red bike has bull horns, aero bars, and MTB bars.
4. Boarding my flight to Brasilia.

This is the view from my balcony.
When I come back to Panama there will be a building blocking it.

Oct 11, 2006 - Buying foam

Poti called me and asked if I wanted to go for a spin. We then went to Milla 8 to buy some eggcrate bed foam which will be used as sound proofing for his studio.

Oct. 10, 2006 - Held Back

When I called the Brazilian Embassy to find out what I needed in order to go they said no visa but I did need the yellow fever vaccine 5 days in advance. Being the procrastinator that I am, I got mine at the last possible moment. Found out at the airport the vaccine actually needed 10 days of incubation, so the trip will kick off on the 13th... Friday the 13th! (insert Jason music here)
